Indies West Offers Rare Beachfront Living

One of the more established options for a residential lifestyle in Naples also offers the rarity of both boating and beachfront living. Found right along Gulf Shore in the Moorings section of Naples, Indies West invites its residents to enjoy both direct Gulf access and beach access.
That’s because the low-rise community is surrounded by Moorings Bay, Doctors Pass and the Gulf. A 20-slip marina has boat slips available for lease with direct boating access for residents of Indies West to Doctor’s Pass.
Apart from a boating and beachfront lifestyle, other possible amenities include a heated swimming pool, some outdoor space, and bicycle storage. Each residence within Indies West comes with one garage parking space for convenience.
Originally built in the late 1960s, there are a total of 80 residential units that make up Indies West, spread across 20 villa-like buildings. There are just four residences per building. The advantage of being part of such a low-density community is yet another rarity, but it occurred more in response to the age of the property, as it was fairly inexpensive at that time to develop in Naples and there was more land available to develop, too.
Years and decades later, units in the coveted community still rarely hit the market, and many of them tend to be passed down within the same family. With certain restrictions, longer-term rentals are sometimes possible in Indies West, but pets are not permitted.
The residences typically range from around 1,200 square feet to nearly 1,700 square feet of living space. The majority of them have two-bedrooms and two-baths, but a handful include either two-bedrooms plus a den or even three-bedrooms.
One, more recently listed condo at Indies West has two-bedrooms, two-baths, and close to 1,500 square feet of living space. It’s a rarity for a second-floor unit, such as this, in Indies West to even come on the market at all. The condo boasts a remodeled kitchen.
